Techno is like an animal. It’s really best when it growls.
Was listening this morning to some tracky techno with some of the early minimal sounds from Byron Bogues (2003 mix - Clubtrax (HR-XXL) 05-31 - you can get it from LAVAMUS). It really didn’t get exciting until I noticed that he brought back the bass sound. It’s not like there wasn’t a deep bass kick in the early part of the mix, but all of a sudden there was some BASS that just came rattling through the car speakers. That’s when I realized that techno has a much more IMPACT on the listener when there is some UMPFH to the beat.
