Schematic - Unemployed (Oct 2009 Mix)
It’s been a little while since I’ve actively listened to DnB, but today on the FB, a friend of mine mentioned a new website/record label out of Canada, STRIDE RECORDINGS. He had linked to a YouTube video of one of their released/free tracks. From there I went to the website and dl’d a full hour long mix. While there are some mild, faint technical mixing glitches (only for the astute) I was really impressed with the sounds. It reminded me a lot of the LTJ Bukem sound from a while back. Just a bit more uptempo. The mix starts off atmospheric like in the beginning but just builds and builds from there. Lots of great synth sounds, stabs and long melodic sounds…all floating on top of that relentless drum and bass sound. Oh and yeah there’s plenty of bass vibrating through! Honestly, I’m actually excited about burning this to CD and listening to it in the car. The long drive home just got a whole lot more fun!
BTW - the MP3 was done in iTunes. So for fun, click on the file, once you have it imported, and do a “get info” on the file. Go to the lyrics section and check out the track listing. Glad to see someone else utilizing this great feature.
